"We
are the music makers.
We are the dreamers of dreams."
O’Shaughnessy’s words aptly
describe our years together with Chorale Connecticut. With your
kindred spirits, we have created music that anoints life, soothes the healing
and fortifies the spirit. Together, we have bowed our heads in grief, stood
shoulder to shoulder in patriotic celebration and raised our spirits in search
of new dreams. You have fortified our resolve to continue to be “music makers.”
The mood of
Chorale Connecticut’s 10th season “music making” was lighthearted. Our
Remembrances concert was filled with past favorites enhanced by a
memorable slide presentation. We heralded the holiday season with Holiday
Memories featuring Chorale Connecticut’s winter best from past holiday
performances. The festive songs, the joyous spirits and the candlelit
decorations filled our hearts with hopeful merriment.
Celebrating
our 11th season with the spring spirit of romance, Chorale
Connecticut’s
May 2007 concert, Love is in the Ayre, explored
musical pieces that brought feelings of romance and lilting moods that created
an atmosphere of lightheartedness. Faces beamed with pleasure while Chorale
Connecticut performed selections from 16th to 20th
century composers all celebrating the delights of love. Our holiday concert
turns to the magnificent, masterpieces of the past. We will celebrate the
season, with Chorale Connecticut voices singing holiday songs of
hope and joy. Our Dec 8th concert, A Ceremony of Carols, will
feature the work of Benjamin Britten.
We are most
excited to begin our 12th season with our May 17th concert as we
perform Mendelssohn's “Magnificat” and “Gloria”. This grand endeavor will
include a 20 piece orchestra and soloists. We are excited to be able to bring
these seldom heard works to you in 2008.
We thrive as
“music makers”, drawing our inspiration from you, our faithful audience. Please
help us to continue. Support our shared dreams by making a contribution to
Chorale Connecticut. Together we foster the enjoyment and
appreciation of choral music in central Connecticut.
Gratefully,

Dorothy Barnhart
